Strange linksys issue with a MBP. Wouldn't connect without a password.

At home, I have a linksys wireless router. Since I got my MBP, Iv'e had problems connecting at home. It just wouldn't connect, where as my 13.3 mac book was/is working fine.

When I first got my MBP, I connected at a friend's place that had the exact same router but was password protected. I thought maybe the latop is confused with the two different routers, so I changed the name of mine. With no positive results I decided to password protect it, and it worked. Meaning, that it wouldn't connect to an insecure password, right?

Wrong, I tried connecting at a couple of other places that were insecure and it worked fine. My 13.3 mac book worked fine in all of the above places, it's just the MBP that wouldn't connect at home without a password. I left the password, but I want to know why?

Given the above symptoms, can anyone guess or verify the problem?

 

Look at your wireless locations and see if you have duplicate locations. If the key for the locations is not correct, this will happen. So You may need to delete locations then re-connect to them. In advanced settings, I recommend connecting to AP's ONLY, unless you use or need adhoc.
