Hi folks, I hope someone can help.

My wifes notebook (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo pi1505) has a strange problem.

When connecting wirelessly to the router the wifi card detects the connection and goes through the process of connecting but seems to get stuck on 'Acquiring Network Address' the icon in the system tray has the monitor with the yellow ball going back and forth even though I can use the internet connection ok. What this also means is the wifi light on the router shows it constantly being access even if the notebook is on but not being used.

This problem has happened with three different makes of router ruling the router out as the problem.

The Wifi device in the notebook is a: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG

Under Device properties / Driver tab it shows the following:

    Driver Provider: Intel

    Driver Date 29/09/2007

    Driver Version: 11.5.0.32

I have looked but this appears to be the latest driver for this device.

    Any and all suggestions welcome.

    Thanks

    Turn off IPv6 if vista.

And it almost sounds like the security type is wrong, WPA TKIP vs Personal AES. Delete the local connection, reboot, then enter the security key when prompted. I have also seen this when some version having problems with the key length, and or specific chr like ".

I'd try completely removing the wireless driver and Intel wireless software, then reinstall it and attempt to connect again. You could also turn off the Intel software's management of the wireless connection and let Windows manage it to see if that would resolve the problem. I agree with blue68f100 that this could be a security protocol problem. Reinstalling the software, making a new connection and retyping the wireless password could correct it.
