I was having alot of problems with my wireless card (and bluetoothe) in my z81sp ranging from the card not turning on, to not being detected by device manager. The whole deal with it not being detected could not be solved with the help of my reseller and I was ready to send it back to be looked at and/or repaired. I was getting ready to reformat and noticed an option in the exit menu of the bios that said load default settings, which my reseller informed me restores the factory settings. I tried it out and bang, everything works.

Does anybody know what could be behind this? I mean, the only time I ever went into my bios was to reformat, about 4-5 months before I began having this problem.

Dunno, but if the BIOS was set to 'disable' any of your built-in features (BT, wireless) then Windows would be unable to detect it. Why it would be set like that is beyond me, especially if you didn't change it yourself. It shouldn't make configuration changes by itself!

Did you update the BIOS recently or have some power-related issue?

I had to update my bios when I first got the computer because the one it came with was overclocking the RAM in the GPU and creating artifacts in games, but I didn't have the problems with my wireless until a couple months after I flashed the bios
