    Hello,

Does anyone know if it is possible to use the Sprint PCS CF2031 in Vista? Want to use it on a laptop now with Vista, so... Sometimes XP drivers work in Vista, but I can't even try it out, because they seem to be embedded in Sprint's Connection manager. Another thought is that there may be a compatible Vista driver from another card, like Novatel Merlin, or Nokia Generic PCS. Just throwing that out... hopefully somebody has some ideas. Thanks in advance.

I thought I'd add that if anyone knows about another CF WWAN card, that would nice to know about. Ideas?

I have searched all over the place, the last few days, but it seems like no one is really interested in using the CF2031 in Vista, that I could find.

    Thanks.

That's a fair question. But I can't call Sprint. I live in Canada. They have no Vista drivers on their site.

This card will work with any CDMA 1x network, but the web site says that it is compatible with the following OS's only; Microsoft® Windows® 98SE/2000/ME/XP.

One question though, how did you end up with such a card if Sprint doesn't have coverage in Canada?

BTW, Verizon does have coverage in Canada, you may want to look at their web site in case they have the same card, which I strongly doubt it.

I did notice those OS requirements.

I ordered it from a store in the States over the 'Net. Telus Mobility, in Canada, supports the same WWAN technology, but does not directly support configuration of the card.

I will give them a call from here and let you know. Where in Canada do you live?

I live in Alberta. But I don't need coverage from Sprint or Verizon. I'm with Telus Mobility.

Thanks for calling Sprint. Their data technical support may be able to help.

I talked to Sprint and they told me that they don't sell it anymore, that's why they removed the driver from the web site. But, she also said that the XP driver in it would also work with Vista, that's what the Sprint's agent said.

Do you have the CD that came with it? If not, then I suggest you google the driver, may be you will end up in a forum where someone could upload the driver for you.

Otherwise the lady told me that Sierra or Novatel cards are definitely Vista compatible.

I hope this help a little.

Thanks. I really appreciate you calling.

As far as the Sprint and Novatel cards, I can't use a PCMCIA. I need a CF or SDIO WWAN card, as I'm using it in the Fujitsu u810.

I do have the CD that it came with the CF2031. And I wouldn't be surprised if the XP driver worked in Vista. But the problem is that the instructions point to the Connection Manager software as the prerequisite for the CF2031. The driver seems to be embedded in the Connection Manager software. And the Connection Manager software is not compatible with Vista. It reports that upon executing. I downloaded the latest Connnection Manager software from Sprint and it also said that it wasn't compatible with Vista.

So, unless there is another way to simply get the XP driver for the CF2031, I'm not sure what to do. If I could simply get the driver and not the connection manager software, that would be ideal, while as you know, I'm not with Sprint anyway. Again, not sure how to simply get the XP driver. I've looked all over Sprint and Googled quite a bit.

I think there are some applications to run XP applications in Vista, google it.
