Hey guys, I recently just got a Belkin N150 wireless router, and I get spotty wireless signal. When my laptop is plugged directly into the modem, I get constantly 20mbps speed according to SpeedTest.net, and can download at ~1mbps. But when using the wireless (from about 10 feet away), I sometimes get <1mbps, so streaming music and youtube videos become an issue and can download at ~100kbps. With my computer plugged into the router, I also get ~20mbps and can download at ~500kbps. I checked out some reviews for the router and no one else seems to have this issue... Does anyone know how I may be able to fix this?

Bit late, but is it just air between you and the router. Walls, microwaves, DECT phones, bluetooth etc can affect wireless performance and can decrease speed. It might be worth using SSIDer to see how congested the channels are and maybe set the router to auto channel mode or set a channel which is uncongested. Otherwise might be worth trying a new router, I've always had bad experiences with belkin ones tbh but that was back in the day.

Router and the computer are in the same room with nothing in between them. Even when I put the computer next to the router the same problem happens. I returned the router and bought another one of the same model - same problem. So then returned it and bought a Netgear and it works fine just now.
