    Hi

I've just got an S Series laptop.

The problem is a strange one. My laptop will connect to the internet fine, the router appears fine as other laptops in the house work on it. I can be connected for as little as ten minutes to hours, then it will just disconnect. After disconnecting it wont find my router. I've tried turning off and on the wireless detector on my laptop, that doesn't work.

The only thing that works is completely restarting my computer. Then it connects fine.

Any ideas what could be wrong?

I'm using windows 7 and the ISP is o2 broadband.

    Thanks.

Disable power management for Wi-Fi cards and make sure Windows can't disable Wi-Fi card to conserve power (respectively in advanced power options and in device manager).
You should also update Wi-Fi driver.

    Hi, thanks for the info.

I was able in the device manager to disable windows ability to turn off the connector to save power, though I can't find where in advanced power options, to disable power management. The options I'm given are when I go into wireless adapter settings, just to use maximum performance.

    Thanks for the help.

Yeah- sorry- that's what I meant it's either power-saving or max performance so set it to max performance.

Sorry to persist with the same problem, I tried both things and it seemed to be working but today it disconnected again and I had to restart my laptop to regain my connection.

Is there something else I can do? Or is this a problem that requires me sending the laptop into technical people?

As far as I can tell the card is Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6200 AGN

and the driver version is 13.1.1.1

Download the most recent driver from Intel which is 13.4.0.0 install it, go to device manager/properties of you Wi-Fi card and take a look at the options available in the "advanced" tab- anything related to power saving first, you may play with other options as well if they sound promising.
I don't have an Intel card at hand so I can't help with it- laptop with an Intel Wi-Fi is across town.

Another thing- check IP lease time on the router. What security settings and wireless settings do you use?
Is the Intel PRO set installed or not? If it is- do not install it when updating drivers.

I've downloaded and installed the latest driver... it seems to be working better now and not disconnecting. Thanks for the advice.
