I have just started using an older Sony Vaio notebook, model PCG-GR270P and would like to know if it has the capability to access the Internet via wireless communication. If not, what is needed to make it wireless?

That model did not come with a wireless adapter as far as I can tell from the spec sheets I reviewed.

That means you have two options; a usb wireless adapter like this one
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166022

or a cardbus adapter like this one
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124348

I have had far greater luck with the cardbus adapters in my time. Every usb adapter I have every used crapped out within 6 months, whereas I have never had a cardbus adapter die.

Now, to be fair, the only usb adapters I have ever used were cheapo units that I bought in a pinch, but they have all died due to poor heat dissipation

Thanks for your response. I just ordered a refurbished Wireless Adapter card from Linksys for $20. Their technical support said it should work in my Sony Vaio notebook.

    Thanks again for the advice.
