    Hi

Fo no reason, after 12 months, my Sony Vaio has suddenly decided to lose internet connection.

I am unable to set up a new connection - seem to remember a window said I had lost my TCP IP Protocol???

Can anybody help? I'm going insane without emails, etc!

    Thanks

    Vista/XP will vary in steps.

Go to Start > Control Panel > Network Connections (Network and Internet for Vista).

Right click on what connection you are using, either Local Area Connection (wired) or Wireless Local Area Connection (wireless).

    Click on Properties

On the General tab, look for Internet Protocol (XP) or Internet Protocol V4 (Vista)

If it is listed, your Internet Protocol is still there...but it may be malfunctioning.

On the General tab, click Install, select Protocol, and then click Add.
In the Select Network Protocols window, click Have Disk.
In the Copy manufacturer's files from: text box, type c:\windows\inf, and then click OK.
Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click OK.

Close out of everything and try to reboot.

    Edit

If this does not work, press the Windows key and the letter 'R'.
In the Run box, type cmd then OK.
type 'netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt'
    Reboot

If all else fails, try reinstalling the network card drivers.
