    I have a Toshiba M45.

    And a Sony FE790.

In the same very room the M45 says the connection is "excellent" or "very good" while the Sony FE stays "low".

And it never goes any higher unless I move the FE into another room. I don't want to do this because my desk is all set up in a particular room, etc.

I want to use the FE790 for online gaming. When the connection is very good or excellent I get no lag in my games.

What is going on with the FE?

    Can I fix this?

BTW -- No access to the router ;-)

If you have all of the latest drivers. Turn off the M45 and see if the FE changes, goes up. Also try lowering the power output of the AP. It's possiable to over drive a connection.

Alright I put the power to the highest. it was on the lowest. Restarting the comp to see if there is a difference.

    thanks everyone for the suggestions.
