Hey, would anybody be able to help me a little? The ethernet port on my vaio doesnt seem to be working. I connect it to my router and the green light on that doesnt light up to show that its connected and in the Device Manager it just has Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN and 2 Bluetooth devices. Ive just got a NAS drive that I need to back up a load of media on and would prefer to do the bulk of it wired so any help would be hugely appreciated.

Make sure that LAN is not disabled in BIOS. If there's no such option and Windows doesn't detect LAN card it may mean a hardware failure.
You can verify that by booting into Linux distro and checking if it detects another networking device.
