I have the Linksys router , model WRT300N, the one with N capabilities. Once I get the software update for my mac's wireless card to enable N connection, will it be as easy as just connecting normally and I have an N connection, or do I have to go into the router's settings and enable it.

Also, my 2.4ghz phone is messing up my wireless signal and Im trying to change the channel on the router, but I seem to have lost the manuals and what not. Does anybody know how to change it? I dont have the cd for it either.

Are you sure the Pre-N in your Mac is compatible with the Pre-N in your router?

    802.11n isn't officially ratified yet so it's called Pre-N.

Getting Pre-N devices to work together on different brands is not that easy, because different manufacturers have different standards and specifications. If they aren't compatible, then your best bet would be to just buy the Apple Extreme Router or go back to wireless-g. The latter is a better option if you don't need a lot of bandwidth.

    Changing wireless channel:
    1. Login to your router '192.168.1.1' in the address bar.
    2. username: (blank), password: admin -- if you haven't changed the default password.
    3. Look for the wireless tab and changing the channel should be in there.

Wow are you kidding me, 2008?! Wow I bought this router because the sales guy at futureshop kept telling me I can use N with my digital camera, other pripherals, and its just faster. He said the router is faster and has more range than the regular WRT54G. Sneaky peoples.

What do you expect from a salesman......

The 11n draft is currently at 1.1, which was ratified 3-4 mo ago, we are just now starting to see some of the new hardware hit the market. Of course stores want to get rid of the old stock first.

Your 11n wireless in you mac should connect to the router. It's all depends on what mfg chip set is used. Once the spec is ratified and everyone implements the spec correctly, will different mfg play with each other.

Look on the router for the model number, then go on the manufacturer's site and download the manual.

Even better, I threw out my 2.4 ghz phone and bought a new 5.8 ghz phone. All fixed.
