Can anyone explain what's going on here ....
This wireless system uses the Linksys B router (version 4). Right around Christmas Eve, I couldn't access the following websites:
GMail, NetZero, Shutterfly, Google.
And with Hotmail I could get to the login page, but could not login to my account. I could get to any other of a dozen or more websites that I frequent.
If I went to a hotel with wireless I could get to all of those sites.
The Linksys CSR had me re-do the configuration of the router and then the problems disappeared.
I don't understand why the router would block access to just those websites I mentioned. Anyone has an idea? The Linksys CSR said the router was confused (???).

On some routers there are some timing features used in the firewall settings. I had an old SMC that the timing settings that were by default was to short and presented the same problems. Once corrected all was good. I have also seen MTU values to Large and cause the same problem.
It's very strange it just started happening. Did you run some optimization software to try to speed up your connection? -
I don't remember running any optmization software or anything to do with speeding up the system. Since it happened around Christmas Eve, and since GMail was the first website I noticed had the problem, I thought maybe many new people were signing up and the servers were busy. I also noticed that the Google site wasn't coming up so then I thought the Google servers were down. But a couple days later the problem was still there so I took my laptop to a hotel that has free wireless and was able to get on those websites. I waited till the holidays were over to see if things would change and they didn't so I decide to call Linksys support and all they did was have me re-do the setup of the Linksys. Weird, to say the least.
Some Websites Would Not Come Up Until Router Was ReConfigured - Why?
