I have a wireless network and on one of my computers connected to the internet wirelessly I can't access my e-mail acount. I've tried many other sites and they all work, but whenever I log into my hotmail acount it says:"

    Unable to Connect

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at loginnet.passport.com.

    * The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.

    * If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
    connection.

    * If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web."

I've also tried to use msn messenger and limewire but none of these applications will connect to the internet, even though I AM connected to the intenet...

Another wierd thing is that when I use IE it says "Page Cannot be Diplayed...blah...blah...blah...". (I use FireFox)

Could someone please help me out, this is realy starting to bug me... :(

    Thanks.

I live in the same area. You probably have Comcast also. I had that issue for several weeks.

The solution to my problem was that my Privacy software by McAffee was rejecting the cookies to passport.com .

I have Verizon... I'm running Symantec Antivirus and I can't seem to uninstall it because whenever I try it says:"

The Windows installer cannot be accesed. This can occur if you're running Windows in safe mode (which I am not) or if Windows Installer is not correctly installed."

One problem leads to another... :(

It sounds like a ISP problem or modem problem. Maybe a DHCP problem, but it doesn't quite sound like that....unless you keep getting "limited to no connectivity" on the windows wireless icon in the taskbar.
Anyway, you may want to check your modem and reset it. If the problem persists, you may want to call your ISP and see if there are any outages in the area or if they are doing work in the area.

O nevermind....only on one computer? not all of them? then it sounds like a firewall issue as someone said, or possibly a DHCP issue, but again unlikely. But just incase, open up a MS-DOS promt. (run>cmd) type in: ipconfig/release
then once that has completed, type in: ipconfig/renew
Then try to go to some websites, ect.
Well, since it's only hotmail, and limewire, (and msnm) it does sound more like a program interfering w/ your access.
So, DHCP problem would be at the bottom of my list for things that could be causing it. But, after trying everything else, it's worth a shot since it's a relatively simple fix.

I did what you said to do with MS-DOS, nothing changed. I double checked to make sure that my routers firewall was not enabled, again nothing changed. :(

Drumfu: Since I'm not very computer savy I don't know what you mean by ping...sorry

He means going into DOS, then typing "ping (url)" or "ping (ip adress)

so like, "ping www.google.com" or "ping 216.239.51.99"

This really sounds like a firewall or software problem. Check into the settings on windows firewall or any of the others that you might have or any other programs that might act like a firewall or your security settings.

Raiken, how are you trying to log onto your hotmail account? Are you going to the hotmail homepage or are you trying to log in via your IM application?

Ooops, sorry. re-read your post again and saw that you've tried through MSM....

What are your connection settings in Microsoft Messenger?

Sometimes when I can't get to certain sites, I find that I accidentally left some proxy settings on.

Take a look at this thread over at Mozilla's support forum. A couple of folks have had similiar problems and a couple of suggestions were made. You might want to take a look at them and see if any of them help.
