Hey guys, got a small question here maybe you can help me figure this out,

I have a toshiba notebook, bought it about 2 years ago,

    This is what i have:

    Satellite M45-S355
    Intel pentium M processor 750 (1.86GHz), 1024MB DDR SDRAM
    100GB(5400 RPM), 15.4" WXGA display
    802.11b/g wireless i.LINK 1394
    Windows XP Home

When i go into device manager this is what i have under network adapters:

    -1394 net adapter
    -Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 2200BG network connection
-Marvel Yukon 88E8036 PCI-E fast ethernet controller

    My problem is this:

I recently moved to a new house and we set up the garage as a home office,
We live in a pretty remote area so the only internet connection is "HUGHES SATELLITE" connection, speed supposedly around 2 mb. So we set up the modem, Got a wireless router, netgear for around $40, And its my laptop and 2 other laptops in the garage, and another one in the house.

Everyone elses internet speed is fine exept mine. Other than my toshiba we have a newer gateway running vista, a 3 year old mac, and a 2 year old mac, so it shouldnt be that my computer is dated or something.

But my connection is much slower than everybody elses evan when im connected via ethetrnet cable from the wireless router and everybody else is wireless.also tried connecting via a differant cable directly to the modem and still slower. Sites like facebook take 2 hours to load (if they load at all). I tried updating drivers for my wireless network adapter and the marvel yukon driver but this didnt help. Its as if both my wireless and non wireless internet adapters both decided to slow down together, note that the laptop is otherwise running fine, and this never happened at my previous residence.

Sorry if this is to long fella's,

any ideas what could cause this?

Try getting the latest drivers for the card and see if there's a firmware update for the router as a place to start.

Um, your card. I would start with the router. I had the same problem when I switched from DSL to cable. My router didn't like the new cable modem, but after I updated the firmware everything worked great.

It sounds like the mtu is set to high, try setting to 1492, def is 1500. When this is to high you have problems with some sites but not all. Also download cablenut and it's optional sp. It has optimal settings for most all isp's, and its the only one that worked for me.

So i tried setting the MTU and that didnt help much, I then downloaded Cablenut and set it to satellite for windows xp and it seems to have helped allot, its still not perfect but much much better then before. Thanks for all your help guys, Hope i can return the favor one day. :D
