    Hi!
I've recently bought a Samsung series 7 chronos with Intel 6230n and like many others I have issues with the wifi. However, the issues I have seem to differ from the others.

First I did everything I could find.
    - uninstalling - installing drivers
    - changing router channels
    - disabling bluetooth
    - disabling n-wifi
    - enabling/disabling 2,4ghz/5ghz one at a time
    - microsoft 50199 fix

So the issue with the 6230 is that both the signal is poor and the speed is incredible slow. The speed ranges from 0.01 to 16Mb/s, but is most of the time below 1Mb/s. The speed differs even if I don't move the laptop or switch any other computers on/off.

16Mb/s is what all the other computers on the same network get. There are about 7 computers connected to my network and they all work fine.

However, I did what most suggested - I bought a usb wifi adapter.
Strangely this didn't help, while the signal improved a lot the speed didn't change at all.

So the speed can't (or shouldn't) be related to the 6230. Which means it must be sofware or the router.

Since it works for the other 6 computers on my network (they should use all kinds of g/b/n wifis) I can't imagine it being the router.

Hopefully this issue isn't related to just Samsung Series 7 and there's someone out there who has experienced this and solved it.

If you have any ideas of what I could try please point me in the right direction because I'm running out of options.

I'd prefer to solve this without returning the laptop because I desperately need it at the moment.

If the speed never reached above 1Mb/s I would return it in an instant but since it sometimes "work" I'm thinking I can solve this somehow.

    Thanks.

    Kind regards,
    - Markus

You did not specify what your router was or if you tried connecting your computer with the other devices offline. You might just be stuck with the case of a bad router that can't handle all the connections simultaneously. You may just be out of range or experiencing some major interference as well.

    Thanks for replying.

Other computers at the same range or even further away get 16Mb/s.
I have tried switching all other devices off. Currently, this is the only computer online and I'm still getting incredibly slow internet.

This is the router DIR-655 XTREME N.

If I monitor the wifi speed (not the internet), it jumps between anything within 1Mb/s to 54Mb/s every second.

Another thing that's weird is that whenever I'm not using the internet I get better speeds. I know it's obvious, but this is extreme.

For example if I run a speedtest when I'm not doing anything else I might get 7Mb/s which currently is good for this laptop, but as soon as I start downloading something it drops to below 1Mb/s (both download speed and result in speedtest.) And yes, I know the difference between MB and Mb =)

Now that you've mentioned the router which is notorious for causing issues- can you test another router?
    Any old router will do.
    This particular D-Link spells trouble...

I connected an older D-Link router since that was the only one I had lying around.
It didn't help, the signal was worse and I couldn't notice any change in the speed.

I forgot to mention two things:
The upload speed is always at max (1Mb/s) no matter the download speed or signal.
If I plug in the ethernet I get 16Mb/s download.

    @baiii
Thanks for you reply and yes I have already read those threads, thanks anyway =)

I plugged the usb wifi adapter into another computer and the speed dropped by 80% and received about the same download as I get with the Samsung S7 with both the USB and Intel adapter.

I'm thinking it has something to do with the N-wifi. Since the computer that got 16Mb/s isn't using N and the USB adpter is N.

But as I mentioned I have disabled N for my intel 6230 and it didn't help.
I'm going to try to find a non-D-Link router.

I shared my Android connection and got similiar results.
Upload is great but download is very slow (<1Mb/s).
The smartphone was 1 inch away from the laptop.
