Hi.....I wonder why my sharing speed is sooooooo slow......
I am using Linksys 300N router

There are three computers in my house...
    A)destop with cable
    B)destop with 300N adapter..(wireless N)
    C)laptop with wireless G

There is always a problem when I set my router to "mixed"
The wireless computers disconnect from router after few hours/days
therefore, I set it to wireless G....(which causes my wirless N useless)

    Speed of sharing...
computerB copys file(200MB video file) from computerA 10mins
computerC copys file(200MB video file) from computerA 800k/s
computerC copys file(200MB video file) from computerB 400k/s (sometimes 100k/s)

Also...If I use my wireless computers to download video using bitcomet...
The speed is also slow...(hard to find seek/peer)
But the wired computer is not that bad

    Is my router defective...??
    Thanks!

I would use only FTP to test speeds with, this eliminates the SMB (MS Tax). FTP programs give you speed during downloads. Another tool is Netstat (xp only) this will show full network bandwidth usage and also what the cpu is doing.

I would also test each pc using a wired connection. If fine your cach or stack space may not be set correctly. If that is the case try cablenut optimizer, XP only.

What security are you using on the wireless ? WPA(2)

Sometimes I set it to WPA2..and the wireless computer doesnt work..
But the 400k/s still need 10mins..

I dought if it's the router. There is know issues with mixed mode on all 11n routers. It's always a good idea to have the latest drives and firmware in all hardware involved.

WPA AES Personal should be fine for security if your using a min of 20 chr consisting of ALL printable chrs. 11n like WPA2 better.

Now I do not know if the router has a wireless status page showing if your having and packet loss, requiring packets to be resent. This can happen with wireless equipment (phones) and interference from other networks in the area. Also there are setting on to how much power (max), and if the energy cp can be allowed to reduce power to save energy (AC & Battery).

Does the notebook has a 4200rpm HD?

Download and install http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/nsl.htm it will tell you completely what is going on with the NB. I do not know if it's Vista compatiable.

Should look at your services/background application you have running too. AV programs can also slow things up as it scans incoming packets.

Remember the 11g 54mbps (35 mbps throughput) is shared between all devices.
