I have the Clevo M570U-A notebook with T7200 C2D and a 3945ABG Intel Wireless card.

I was noticing while playing WoW that I would have high latency all of a sudden and spikes of latency thereafter.

I did a ping test to google.com and then one to microsoft.com.

I have an old laptop with a external Belkin wireless card. I did the ping test simultaneously from the same connection to google.com and microsoft.com.

The ping times were similar. What was not similar at all was the fact that my new laptop was getting the message, "Request timed out" a bunch of times, (about 25-30 times in the 5 minutes I let it ping) while the old laptop with the external Belkin card would get it hardly at all (maybe twice in the same period). I pinged the same exact IP address on both computers off the same wireless connection.

I have updated the drivers for the 3945ABG off Intel's website. I have also gone into my 3945ABG's advanced settings and change Power Management to "Maximum performance," as well as changing the other appropriate settings to maximum that may be holding the card back. I have gotten little results from doing this.

Please, can anyone shed some light on this problem for me? Thanks for your time.

Games don't play well over wireless. You may try http://www.dslreports.com and see if it show something that needs changing. The wireless is a 1/2 duplex connections, so its quite easy to have collisions, and lags. It can not send and receive at the same time. It may be your MTU needs adjusting. Most all DSL are 1492. Only cable use 1500 in some areas. The dslreports will help isolate the problem.

I read both of your posts..
What i wonder is not wich connection perform better with ONLINE GAMES..but why with the same connection two wireless card perform in a different way.

I ordered the M570U i guess with the intel pro wireless (the same you own inside i guess) and i really wonder if its just an isolate case or it will be a serious issue.

Thx for your answers and explanation.

Depending on what chip set your router is, some do not play well with others.

chipset vs chipsets....... even though the both meet the same 11b/g spec.

I understand perfectly the question chipset vs chipsets.
But what our friend says its that the wireless card of the M570U performs worse than an older notebook.

You know isnt a good news to hear if you are gonna buy a new laptop--
