I live in a small apartment and might room might as well be a bunker. Its is about 50-60 feet from the router to my bedroom with the kitchen in the middle. Sitting in the living room right next to the router my internet is just find. However, when I head back to my room to use my computer my internet speed drops off dramatically.

Is there any reasonable way to fix/improve this? The router is currently at the front of the apartment and I am considering buying a 20ft coaxial cable so the gateway is on the kitchen counter rather than all the way at the front of the apartment.

I have an Arris TG862 that I have through Xfinity. It is a modem/router combo that I would love to get rid of and use my own but at the moment this is convenient and if it goes down its Xfinitys issue and not mine.
