If I shut down the services and processes it runs perfectly fine when configured through windows. My question however is, will I still get the power saving configuration, and settings such as maximizing my range, etc? There's a good 4-5 processes that I don't want clogging my system.

You don't have to install the ProSet software for your Intel WiFi card. All you need is just the Intel drivers for the card and that's it. The ProSet software just takes control of the WiFi settings. Windows has the Zero Client Configuration feature that allows it to control the card without installing the ProSet software. You should still be able to access settings of the card itself. Mine allows me to select how much power to use, what signal technology to use (B or G or B+G), etc.... You shouldn't have any problems configuring the card withou the ProSet software, it's just a bit more manual, but still possible.
