I've juz shifted to an apartment 3 floors away from my parents. The internet connection at their place is using wrt54g wireless router. Is it possible to share the internet connection onto my site?
[it seems ridiculous for me to be paying broadband access for both sites]

Currently i have 3 pcs at my place running XP and 98 with a wired 4 port SMC router. I tried using netgear wa111 wireless adapter and can connect to the network and surf using the winxp pc(where my usb adapter is attached) but the other pcs just cannot surf. Can anybody shed some light on how to enable all 3 pcs to surf the net?

The easiest would be to just get wireless cards for all of them. They can be had for pretty cheap if you can get a decent signal up there. You could also get a second wireless access point and have it actually set up as a relay for the main one at your parent's house. From there you can plug in via Ethernet.

i think wireless card for all of them is out for me.... due to the cost n locations in my current place that can receive a signal....only 1 part of the place can get a decent signal.

So u are suggesting that I get another access point, plug into my current router and draw my ethernet from there? Is there any configuration method that I can use without buying new equipment?

Have you tried using 'Internet Connection Sharing' on the PC that gets the signal? Type that phrase into XP Help and Support for an explanation.

    First PC = Vic-20, 8" 128KB Home-Brew Floppy Drive ... Current Rig = eMachines m6805 ... Quantum Leap?
