    Hello,

I am switching from a PC to Mac laptop and I have a Seagate ST3160203U2-RK external hard drive hooked up to my PC now. I would like to share the drive over my wireless network ( Linksys router ) so that I can access the files on my new Mac. I enabled sharing the drive on my PC using the windows xp network wizard, but when I tried to access the drive on my roomates Mac i was unable to connect. The drive shows up but I was prompted with some usernames and passwords? Does anyone have a solution or some tips to help me? Thank You

You would need to log into the XP account in order to gain access to files on that account (ie, the external). For the user name and password, enter the information from your XP account.

My OSX is rusty but did you use the "connect to" (use to be called chooser in os9) to establish connection. If I recall you can use IP or browse to the shared drive. You will be required to use the same cridentials of the XP pc to login.
