    So, here's what I can't do.
I have a desktop /Windows 2000 Pro/ and a laptop /Compaq l2005, windows XP home/. The former has an external usb bluetooth and the latter has an integrated one with the wireless card. I wonder if it is possible to share the internet connection of the desktop computer to the notebook over bluetooth. I tried hard but after a while I get so messed up with network connection icons that usually one of the computers hangs. It seems that because of the different versions of windows, I will not be able to establish a direct connection over a small/home-office network and that's why I thought of Dial-up or Serial port connection. Needless to say, I failed.
Does anyone know a link to a guide or has anyone done it? Any ideas are most welcome cause I get the feeling that each time I only miss a single click here or there to make the whole thing work.

Why not just get a router? They are like $10 or $20 for a wireless one with ethernet ports on the internet. Then you can map network drives.

the problem with the rooter is that it's a bit hard to find right now /i'm outside the States/. Plus, I'm not sure if it'll work because my provider detects my MAC address and allows only one computer to connect on a single port /which is unexplainably stupid since I'm paying for speed and not per computer/ I'll probably be able to trick him with the rooter but I'll first have to find it. That is why I tried the bluetooth thing.

i would say it's not worth it as the connection will probably be slow and choppy.
