Have not been here as much due to the fact I'm having problems with my wireless. I need some advice about what is going on here.

I'm using my landlords wireless (unsecured) who lives downstairs (I live upstairs). He is currently out of the country and will be for some time -- so I have no physical access to the router.

My problem is this: My signal strength is always "Very Good" or "Excellent" @ 54Mbps for all my laptops. It says my Vaio FE, my Toshiba M45 (which I fixed BTW if you guys remember from my past threads), and my XPS are all "connected". Yet the internet does not work! Not a single page will load up. "Server not found" it will tell me. When I check the status of my Intel PRO 3945ABG it says the sent packets are less than 300 and the received packets are around 7-10. This is the same for all laptops.

I have no idea what to do about this. I think resetting the router would probably fix the problem.

If I could log unto someone else's unsecured wireless in the area (which nobody has) I could easily get into the router to mess around with options that may/may not help me.

What might be going on here? The router is a Linksys WRT54AG router.

BTW: I updated the router firmware myself to the latest version about 2-3-ish weeks ago. Every computer performed perfectly on the internet. It has only been in the last 2-3 days that I have not been able to connect at all.

can you log onto the router ising the routers ip?
if you can there should be somewhere a restart button hidden somewhere this may solve your problem

Nope, I can't even log into the router using its IP.

Using Windows repair under network connections does nothing either. It simply resets my IP and gives me the same IP.

Alright, here is the plan, cut the power to the building, then bring it back online. You will reset the router, then keep my name out of it.

More seriously, if you are not able to get to the router's IP, and you are sure of its ip, then it sounds like there is a major problem connecting. Time to get some other internet.

Yes ever now and again I would need to reset the router. Same thing happened this morning to my router. Although I can access the net etc, but I'm unable to ping the router. Unable to access it too. Which is really strange, so I have to power cycle it.

you say all your laptops can connect, it sounds like you are connected to the access point but the seperate adsl modem is off line, i bet you can ping your other laptops when they are all on. i think as suggested you should turn all power off wait 30 seconds and turn back on. else the bill hasent been paid?

All of the sudden my wireless works now!

Thanks guys for the hints -- I read more and I flushed DNS, etc etc and everything seems to be ok...for now.
