I don't know if this is the right place to post this thread...I want to set up a home wireless connection and i searched the web a bit to find out how. Now they say that I need to have DSL or cable modem. Problem is I don't have none of them. My PC is connected to internet with an antenna set up on the roof and the cable that comes from antenna is connected to ac adapter and then adapter is connected to computer. Is's a DSL connection requering username and password. Now is it possible to set up wireless network with wireless router and how?

I think it's best to ask your ISP how, what their authorizing protocol is. But usually what you do is get the cable that the internet comes in from plug that to the WAN slot on the router then plug in any computer you need(want) using other cables and then the rest is wireless. But to configure the router for the first time you have to use the cat5 cable, usually. Set up the router(see the manual of said router) but usually they ask you how you connect to the internet if it's static IP, or dynamic IP if a username/password is required, etc.(get this info from your ISP). Hope this helps.

If you have to run some special software other than the initial setup it may not work. -

Yeah, as blue68f100 said. We'll need to know what kind of cable is connecting your computer to the adapter.
If it's ethernet you should be able to use a router. If it's usb then you're probably out of luck.
Contact your internet provider if you're not sure. -
Basically, can you get the connection to work under Linux? If the answer is "yes", then its nearly always possible to rig something up to do routing/NAT.
Many modern 'routers' come with USB ports, that, if you are on a USB 'feed', could be attached and used for network access. But it may take more programming work, since USB internet isn't really a standard part of your typical dd-wrt package, for instance, that you can just flash onto one of those $50 consumer routers/WAPs.
