    Setting passwords for folders?

    Hi all,

    I thought this would be a proper place to ask my question:

    I have 2 notebooks now, and each notebook has a shared folder which i use to transfer files over the net wirelessly.

    Is there a way to set a password for the folders? I'm sharing house with 7 other people and definately don't want too many people viewing my work and data anonymously..

    I've tried looking for the option but to no avail.....i'm looking for some sort of security where only I can access the other notebook...maybe a password to even access the notebook?

    Any help is greatly appreciated. Did look at the forums but can't find anything on it yet...sorry of this has been answered elsewhere.

    Which OS do you have? XP Home and XP Pro may be a little different in the way shares are implemented, but I think what you need to do is create user accounts (along w/ passwords), and then assign permissions to your shares based on the user accounts.

    Just for anybody's information, i found this freeware program called truecrypt which basically sets passwords on folders.
