    Have you done everything required.?

    for example you need to:

    1. Set up file/printer sharing in the TCP/IP settings for both computers.

    2. install the printer on the host computer

    3. go into sharing/ security settings and set the printer for sharing, and also if needed change the security setting so that "everyone" has access to the printer.

    4. then you go into your laptops "my network places" and click "view network computers", then you click on your desktop computer, and you should be able to see the printer.

PS im sure if you typing in installing network printer, or something similar in google you will find a guide.

Alternatively you can just add a printer and tell it you want a network printer and type in the UNC address: \\ computer name\ printer name.

Firewalls are often an issue in network issues like this. You might want to shut it down to see if you can get it work. Your firewall should allow network sharing somewhere.

You will have to set up a workgroup to share files and printers and whatnot. Go to My Network Places and along the left hand side you will be able to set up a home network. set it up the same for both computers and then you will be able to see the shared files on your desktop. To install the printer you will need to make the printer shared. Then from your laptop you will need to open My Network Places and double click the shared printer. It will ask you if you want to install it on your machine, click yes. Then you will be able to print through the router, through the computer and to the printer.

    Good Luck *thumbsup*

In Control Panel / Add-Remove Programs / Windows Components, look for an option for 'Peer-to-Peer Support' or something similar, probably under Networking and install it. That should configure all the firewall ports properly for printing, then you just have to share the printer.

Edit - you may not be able to 'find' the printer. If you can't open a command prompt and type 'PING [PC W/ Printer Name]', you may need to add it manually with the IP address of the Printer in the format of \\[address]\[printer share name].
