    Set up QoS for TP-Link TD-8816 modem

    Hello everyone,

    I have a 1mb internet line shared between 3 PC in my house and everytime 1 of this PC surfing youtube my online gaming is suddenly not fluid (no smooth gameplay, usually lags.

    My question is how do I prioritize my IP so my PC IP has the highest priority/bandwidth usage. I login into my modem QoS page right now and theres a lot of setting that I don't understand.

    If any of you guys/gals is nice enough to help me please help... I need a step by step instruction if possible. I can take screenshot of my modem QoS page if you want.

    All you really need to do is enable QoS. The QoS Engine built-in to most routers will prioritize the gaming traffic and reduce all other traffic.

    One of the biggest problems I have had with QoS is the way it deals with bittorrent. On my router, it doesn't know the difference between bittorrent traffic and gaming traffic, since both send/recieve a lot of packets through a defined TCP/UDP Port.

    Are you using UPnP or Port Forwarding for your game through the router?

    It turns out I already enable QoS since a long time but I dunno why when someone surfing youtube my online gaming will become lag.
    I'm not using UPnP or Port Forwarding.

    Some routers support bandwidth limiting, from my Netgear FVS338 routers help.

    Bandwidth Limiting
    Bandwidth Limiting determines the way in which the data is sent to/from your host. The purpose of bandwidth limiting is to provide a solution for limiting the outgoing/incoming traffic, thus preventing the LAN users for consuming all the bandwidth of our internet link. Bandwidth Limiting for outbound traffic will be done on the available WAN interface in the single port and Auto-Failover modes. The limiting will be done on the user-specified interface in Load Balancing mode. The bandwidth limiting for inbound traffic will be done on the LAN interface for all WAN modes. Bandwidth Limiting will not apply to DMZ interface.
    Example: When a new connection is established via the device, the device will locate the firewall rule corresponding to the connection. If the rule has a bandwidth profile specifications, then the device will create a bandwidth class in the kernel. If multiple connections correspond to the same firewall rule, they will share the same class. An exception is in case of individual type bandwidth profile in which the classes are per source IP. The "source IP" is the source IP of the first packet of the connection. So for the outbound rules the source IP will be LAN side IP and for inbound rules the source IP will be the WAN-side IP. The class thus will be deleted when all the connections using the class expire.
    Bandwidth Profile Table
    This table lists the currently defined bandwidth profiles:
    Name: Displays the user-defined name for this bandwidth profile.
    Bandwidth Range: Displays the range for bandwidth profile.
    Type: Displays the type for bandwidth profile.
    Direction: Displays direction for bandwidth profile.
    WAN: Displays the WAN for Load Balancing mode.

    To remove an profile from the table, select the profile and click Delete. To edit an profile, click Edit adjacent to the profile.
    Add Bandwidth Profile
    Name: Specify easily identifiable name for the profile.
    Minimum Bandwidth: Specify the minimum bandwidth value in Kbps for the profile.
    Maximum Bandwidth: Specify the maximum bandwidth value in Kbps for the profile.
    Type: Specify the type for the profile.
    Direction: Specify the direction for the profile.
    WAN: Specify WAN in case of Load Balancing mode for the profile.
    Edit Bandwidth Profile
    The following fields of an existing profile can be modified:
    Minimum Bandwidth: Specify the minimum bandwidth value in Kbps for the profile.
    Maximum Bandwidth: Specify the maximum bandwidth value in Kbps for the profile.
    Type: Specify the type for the profile.
    Direction: Specify the direction for the profile.
    WAN: Specify WAN in case of Load Balancing mode for the profile.
