I have no idea why this is, but I brought my Zepto in to be configured for the college wireless network. The settings were all right, but no matter what they did, I got a THIS CONNECTION HAS LIMITED OR NO CONNECTIVITY. I hadn't had problems connecting to wireless networks before that.

And now my Wired LAN capabilities are seriously failing. Every hour or so i have to reboot - the network card just stops responding, no matter what I do. I've tried using another totally unrelated connection but same thing, I have to reboot. This is immensely annoying as it means I can't download large files.

It seems to me this must be a software networking issue. What can I do?

I have all the latest drivers, Service Pack 2, etc. It's still doing.

When it does it, it doesn't seem to be able to detect when I remove the cable. It just keeps sending data.

    What could this be?

There's stuff I NEED to download and I can't because it keeps cutting out. It's driving me ****ing nuts! Please help.

Try disabling your cable connection when using wireless and disabling wireless when using the cable.

    That doesn't do anything.

When my connection stops responding, I tried disabling it. Then the entire ****ing device disappeared. No matter what I do I can't get my network card to work now.

What the **** is going on?

Go to Computer management and click device manager scroll down to network adapters then right click select disable or enable there. You didn't uninstall the NIC did you? If you did reinstall them. When enabling and disabling your nic's it shouldn't disappear, it should just have an red x going through it.Also go to proerties after right clicking the NIC and make sure the device is enabled.

It disappeared entirely from the device manager. Right now I've gotten it back but it says the device will not start.

I have uninstalled and resintalled it and no difference. It either gives that error or disappears.

You haven't download anything prior to this happening? MS, FW or AV updates? Install any new software or music? When was the last time you did a full AV/root kit scan?

    I downloaded SP2 and a virus package called F-Secure.

I'm 90% definite that the fact that when I try to reinstall the hardware it comes up as "NIC controller #2" implying there's a first has something to do with it.

Somehow, my computer realises there's something else there yet doesn't.

I would now remove the port from the Network Connections (CP). reboot the nb in Safe Mode. Then reinstall the driver.

And/Or maybe use System Restore and backup to a point that you know it worked.
