    Hi!

I have been having some problems setting up my Netgear Rangemax NEXT. When I use the WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] option I have terrible delay in WarCraft III (but file transfers and so was fine. Havent tried any other games though), so i tried to use WPA-PSK [TKIP] instead. For a few days it worked perfectly but then I started to lose connection to the router every 30 minutes or so. I havent moved the router or computer and windows tells me I have 4 or 5 out of 5 bars in connection strenght. I cant see why this is happening. I tried to use WPA2-PSK [AES] only, but it also gave me the delay in WCIII. There is an option "WEP" too, but I havent tried that one yet.

Do you have any idea how to fix this? Should the performance be so dependent on the security option? I figure WCIII should not require too much band width? Nevertheless I set it to "highest" priority in the QoS. Nothing else is on highest.

I am on vista 64 if that makes any difference.

Remember 11n is still in draft and all mfg are doing there own thing on speeds above 130mbps. So expect problems you are on beta firmware. The proper setting should be WPA(2) AES. But the key need to be >12 chr. You can use the wpa2 for more security.

Do not use WEP, is like no security at all. Make sure you have the SSID broadcasting. Users have reported better connectivity with it exposed. And there is really no security advantage.

Are you use the 5 ghz with the wide band? this should be the best.

    Thx for your answer.

I just dont understand what the 5 ghz thing is. Dont know if I use it or not.

Currently I have set my router to max 130mpbs since there are lots of other routers around. If I lower it even more, would that make any difference?

If you have a lot of routers around that can greatly impact your performance. If you have a dual band router and client card that supports the 5ghz bandwidth is less crowded. Move it the 5 ghz would allow you to run the wide channel (40mhz). This will greatly increase your speed.

Activate the QoS service in the router for minimal delay.
