I've recently purchased a new Intel 4965AGN PCIe mini card, hoping to upgrade my Samsung R70 notebook which is currently using a 3945ABG.

After replacing the card, Windows 7 reported "Cannot start the device. Code 10" error in device manager. And in Event Viewer, it says "Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN: Could not allocate the resources necessary for operation."

I've tried installing the latest Intel driver and it didn't help. I've tried replacing another 49654AGN card from the supplier and it didn't help. I've even tried installing another Windows 7 and same error. I checked the Pheonix BIOS and there's only a few options there and none seems to help.

One thing interesting is that with 3945ABG, I found it was using a (-2) IRQ in the device manager but it was working fine. And with 4965AGN it seems to be unable to get an IRQ so it refuses to work.

Any input is highly appreciated. Thanks!

I just wrote the same thing in other thread regarding this "Code 10" thing. It's likely that yours is a customized Lenovo/IBM or HP version of 4965AGN card. Get a replacement which is generic one.

But how can I tell if the card is a generic one? My 4965AGN only has an Intel logo on it.

Did your old wifi adapter say "samsung" on it?

No, just like the new 4965AGN, very generic to me.

Hard to say. Even customized versions carry Intel logo since they are Intel's.
Can you see HP or Lenovo/IBM logo on its sticker (that is if the seller didn't fake it)?

Btw, where did you get the card?

No, there's no other logos on it. And I bought it from a local store selling notebook parts.

Fortunately, the shop agreed to replace the 4965AGN with a Broadcom BCM94321MC card. And it works beautifully and supports even channel 12 and 13.

Thanks for the help all along!
