I just got my S6220 about 10 days ago. The wireless is a bit iffy. The wireless card works fine when the power cord is plugged in, but when I am trying to use the wireless off of the battery, the wireless is shotty, working much slower than when plugged in. Is anyone aware of a problem like this? Could this be because of my upgraded hardware (7200 rpm 60 HD, 768 RAM, Dothan)? I'm at a loss because the internet is unusuable sometimes when running off the battery (pages do not load, or take more than a minute to load). I don't have too much expeience with notebook wireless cards, but this does not seem normal, is it?

No, this isn't because of your configuration. Try removing and re-installing the wireless drivers. If that fails, you might ask Fujitsu for a new card.

My only question would be how sure are you of the correlation between battery power and poor wireless performance? If that is indeed the case, then there is a problem that is unusual and I agree that you should first try to reinstall the drivers and then seek a hardware remedy. I'd also add in to check the configuration settings and ensure there isn't a lower power setting somewhere that is attempting to save battery power (I'm not aware of one but I'm not familiar with the details of the S6220 so it is a question worth asking when you call tech support). However, I would do plenty of testing first to ensure that you have properly diagnosed the conditions and that it isn't coincidence. Be sure to leave the laptop in the exact same position and switch back and forth between AC and battery power several times to confirm your initial diagnosis.

I don't think it have anything to do w/ HD or RAM at all. If any it will be your CPU and wireless configuration. Well, most people leave their lappie at the default stage, which usually mean when unplug, it will step down to 600MHz speed. The question is what exactly the CPU was doing during those time? check the task manager when you are unplug, and surfing. It may tell you better of how it goes. If the CPU was running at 100% or very close to, that may be the reason why it seem slow.

PS: why on earth do you have to double post?
