Now be patient, gentlemen. I'm old and slow.
Just got my first laptop, N3510. I'm hooked up to cable broadband for my PC ( in the finished basement ).
I'd like to be wireless and carry my notebook all over the house ( 3 storys including basement ). What routers or router set up would best maximize my laptop mobility?
    Thank you.

The Linksys WRT54g and the Netgear WGR614 are both good routers. The Linksys seems to be more stable and it has pretty good range. You can usually get these for around 50-60 dollars.

If you have a 3 story house, you're probably going to want a router that does "G", but if you're interested in a "B" band router, I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 router, and WPC11 wireless PCMCIA card for $50.

I would recommend an antennae that extends your signal. I took off the original 2.5 DBi antennae for 9 DBi multidirectional antennae for a significantly stronger signal. Be careful, there are 11 DBi unidirectional antennae out there.
