i'm planning to buy a new router because the one that i use now is a no-brand-name cheappy i grabbed from local hardware store awhile back. what do you guys recommend? would that be better if i use a wireless and an access point and connect the point to switch/router? i mainly use the laptop for home, browsing the internet, doing some light applications, and no games.

any experience with draytek router? i read from one of local magazine in australia it had alot of features...

    thanks for any help/recommendation.

    later,
    sky

well, if this is going to be your only router or you don't have an existing wired network setup, there's no reason to get a separate router and WAP.

oh no no... i have wired lan network connected to 4 people in my house already. i have a plan to buy a wifi nic and access point and just connect it to the router. also i wanna buy a good router. it all depends on which one turns up to be cheaper. of all these routers here which one do you guys prefer if money isnt really a factor:

linksys, d-link, netgear, netcomm, draytek, belkin...

    any idea?

If money isn't really a concern then for access points I'd go with the Linksys WAP54GX
otherwise go for the cheaper Linksys WAP54G

but if you are interested in replacing the router as well then you might as well just get a nice wireless router.
Linksys WRT54GX4 or the cheaper WRT54GX2

If you use the matching SRX mimo NICs and/or SRX PCMCIA cards with these the range and performance is EXCELLENT.

PS I'm a little biased towards linksys if you couldn't tell.

I have had good luck with NetGear's products. I am currently using the their MIMO router.
