Okay so I got a new router, No LED lights just power and internet I miss link activity lol

So I usually only use a switch for the "other" devices which doesnt use internet much.

Instead of plugging my main 3 devices Main PC, Server, and Linux Media Computer into a gigabit switch would I get the same or better performance? when transfering a lot of data torrenting and such, compaired to them connected directly to the router?

I am no expert but it would probably help to know the make and model of the new router.

Not really.... I`m just wanting to know if it hurts performance to use just a external switch instead of using the built in switch in the router.

There will be no performance impact as long as you are plugging them into a switch that is at least as fast (in terms of link speed and processor speed/backplane bandwidth) as the one built into the router.

Yeah it'll work fine. If you had gigabit internet it would be a different story. ;)

Pshh, Just a 25mb down and 3mb up connection in the middle of nowhere haha.

I`ll Prob use port 1 from Router to main GB switch for the Main 5 devices Server,My PC, Media PC and so on.

And I`ll use Port 2 going to a 10/100 Switch for the rest of the stuff
