    Router WRT54GS or Belkin Pre N router?

    Got a Dell Dimension 8250 2.4 Ghz 512 MB Ram,just bought a Thoshiba notebook Satellite A135 S 4527 with wireless 802.11b/g build in and I need a Router.Thinking about Linksys WRT54GS or is it better to spent the xtra money to get Belkin Pre N router? Thanks for any comment!

    I do not like any of those. Linksys has moved away from the linux firmware. I had to setup the same model you mentioned lasts weekend. It had v7 firmware which could not handle multiple connections wired. Totally junk. In order to take advantage of the GS higher speed, you need a matching card. The wireless side worked good. I don't buy anything non-spec (pre11n), don't waste your money. I would look at a dlink, netgear, or even a Buffalo. If you go with Linksys only Get the WRT54GL (linux) model.

    Stay away from Belkin. Go with the Linksys (I have good luck with these routers) or perhaps look at some of the NetGear models.

    wrt54gl has linux firmware and its around the same price. Linksys makes solid products that last years. The only d-link i owned lasted a few days...
