    Router Compatibility?

    Hi All,I have just purchased my first used laptop.It is Sony Vaio VGN-Fe880E/H.Is this model compatible with the Linksys new /N router,or do I have to go with the /G router.Thx.

    From my research, I looks like it only has a A/B/G card, so a wireless G router is probably what you'd want to invest in.

    Nevertheless, the router and laptop would be backwards compatible with each other, so a wireless N router will still work, you just won't see the speed benefits of N.

    No not just yet.I pick it up tomorrow.If I can't benifit from the /N speed,what about the range?

    Amazon reports that the model is A/B/G.

    I'm assuming it's the 3945.

    You can use a N router. I have a Linksys N router and the range is pretty good. How far do you plan to move away from the router?

    50ft or so.That being said,should I even bother with the /N,or should I buy the /G.

    You should not have a problem with N with your Sony lap.
