I have a Dell 6410 with Dell Wireless 1501 based on BC4313. I have to use this on linux which has a lot of driver issues so I need to replace this with something else.

I was looking into Intel Centrino based ones 6200 and 6300 which I suppose will work and then there are 6230/6235 which is Wifi + Bluetooth. I dont have bluetooth on my machine either so it would be nice to spend a litter more to upgrade to a combo card. But I believe there is a separate slot for bluetooth on this machine. So my question is will Bluetooth on 6230 or 6235 work on E6410 ?

    Thanks in advance.

It will work in theory but 6230/6235 is a dreadful card that has speed issues and disconnections. Intel claims it's not their fault but every once in a while they release drivers that improve the situation (and then others that mess it up again).

    Stay away from 6230/6235.

thanks for sharing your experience. is the problem specific to combo cards or affects all centrino products like 6200/6300

Are there any atheros based cards that I can use for 6410

    thanks

The problem is specific to 6230 because of the Bluetooth module. 6200 and 6300 are a safe bet.
