    Hi,

I have an Acer Aspire 9410, a year ago a hinge froze and cracked the case so I continued just using it as a desktop. Then the screen/monitor died so it was removed and a monitor is connected with a VGA cable to the laptop. Everything is good monitor wise but now I notice my wireless signal is always Low or Very Low when it used to be Good to Excellent, my router is about 25' away. Then I find out there was most likely an antenna in the monitor frame that was removed, hence the signal loss.
Is there any way I can boost my wireless reception?
    Thanks!

Thanks! Does it matter if my router is Linksys rather than Belkin, or is it not brand specific?

It's not brand specific, rather than type specific.

You can add on new wireless antenna if you want, they are a couple of dollars on ebay.

I would try this first personally before getting a usb adapter

You can just take out the antenna's from the broken screen frame too. There's usually a pair of them (one wire is white, the other is black).
