My friend's Sempron laptop has built-in wireless (Ralink 802.11b/g) but the range on it is really short, like 10 feet. His old P3 laptop with Linksys PCMCIA 802.11g had much better range, but his current laptop doesn't have a PCMCIA slot. So someone please recommend me a good wireless USB adapter.

Also when checking for networks with Wireless Zero the signal strength is either Excellent or not existant. Any idea why that is?

    TIA.

I find that D-Link makes pretty good USB Wifi cards. About 300mW output, which is 100mW higher than most USB Wifi cards. You might also want to consider one with an external antennae port and putting a 4 inch antennae. Should get you about 6 dB gain.

    Hope this helps.
