Yesterday afternoon I received my new Vostro 1510 from Dell. Later today I would like to do whatever it is I need to do so I can use it wirelessly throughout my house. The laptop came configured with a Dell wireless g card.

I have a Linksys wireless router which I purchased almost 3 years ago, a Linksys wireless router model #WRT54G which is still connected to a Dell desktop in a back bedroom. I also have the original CD installation disc which came with the router. What do I need to do to set it up so the new Vostro 1510 will be able to work wirelessly with my 3 year old router?

Will I need to contact Linksys later today and will they have to walk me through another step by step installation process? Three years ago I didn't have to do any set up because my brother sent his IT guy from his company to my home to set everything up for me.

I have the same router (WRT54G), you don’t have to install any software on your notebook. Click on the Wireless icon in the system tray and click connect, that should bring up a window with a list of available wireless networks. Select your network and give the user name and password (if you have a secured wireless network).

If you don't see your wireless network, then post here. I'll tell you how to set it up.

Like Phoenix said. Your network should still be up and you should be able to connect to it. If it is secured, then you will need to remeber the password, or reset the password if you don't. Also if your network is not broadcasting itself, you will need to remember your SSID.
