BestBuy sales person indicated that I would have trouble installing a wireless router on my own. Wanted to sell the $159 Installation Service. My question is "Don't they come with instructions?" I have a Dell desktop with XP and a new Dell Inspiron 1721 laptop with Vista. Will both of these be able to access the internet and how hard is it to set it up? Is the Netgear WNR834B a reliable and secure router? Is there one better? easier? I'm new to wireless and it's my first laptop.

Yeah, they come with instructions. They just want $159.
Tip: Don't ever pay for BB to do something for you...they love to rip you off. -

Yes routers come with instructions and are pretty straight forward to install, and I agree with Greg, BB just wants some cash for really nothing. Take alook at this post there is some good suggestions here. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=152573

BB may also want to steal you music and other files, which is kinda scary. Install of routers is very easy and as long as you follow the directions you should have little to no trouble. If you do you can generally call their support and they will help you out.
