My Ralink MT7601U Nano wlan stick's wlan connection is totally stable, plugged in to my old tower (old dual core with asus board)
However I get disconnects with my HP 2560p notebook (same place).
    - windows 10 home is installed both on my 2560p and my tower (driver was installed automatically by windows 10, there is no mediatek windows 10 driver).
    - the usb wlan stick is plugged in without hub
Edit: I have tested usb plugs on the front and on the back: all the same. I have also tested different (short) extension cables in case of interferences of the hp 2560p.
    - same configuration
    - the tower 1m from my laptop, just right and left of the 2560p there is a big hifi speaker)
    - the 2560p wlan module is desactivated
    - laptop and 2560p use both windows defender
    - the settings (multimedia enabled, roaming sensitivity disabled, selective suspend enabled... ) are the same on the 2560p and on the tower.

The tower's connection is a stable 108mbit/s connection (router about 5m, one wall between), but the hp transfer rate is between 5mbit/s and 54mbit/s, every 2-3 minutes there is a disconnect, the ralink dongle cannot even be disactivated (by the way: the built in Intel N 6205 works without any disconnects.

What could be the reason for it? I wanted to use the ralink to build a small multimedia PC along with an old HP dual core, but i don't trust this usb stick any more. It's a cheap aliexpress stick (about 2 EUR) like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Joylive-Wire...e=UTF8&qid=1502212734&sr=8-1&keywords=MT7601U

I'm using channel 13, 2.4 ghz. Could the external monitor, my notebook is connected to, could be the reason? I have read, that certain monitors and LCD-displays can produce high waves, especially in the 2,4-GHz range between the channels 11 and 14.

Try the stick in another port and see if that makes a difference.

Sorry, I should have included this information: I have tested usb ports on the front and on the back: all the same. I have also tested different extension cables in case of interferences of the hp 2560p, so that finally the wlan usb has the same position as with the tower..
Actually it's not a real problem: I could leave the EUR 2 mt7601u plugged in to this tower and that's it. But nevertheless I don't see any logics (apart from the speakers 10cm and 30cm to the notebook: these are 20x45x20 cm hifi 80's speakers).
