Can you have a phone service from one company and a DSL service from another?

I'm guessing no, as the DSL line is a split off of the phone line and that different companies wouldn't be happy about sharing. Am I right?

I think it might be possible. It really depends on where you live. You would have to live in an area where you have a choice of phone and dsl providers. Many places only have one phone company choice (at least for local phone service) and use that same phone company for its dsl service. If you do live in an area where you have choice it might be possible. I know that, for example, Verizon, offers dsl without phone service at all so it might be possible to have another phone service with it. Also, you might consider getting dsl service and then getting VOIP phone service as it may often be less expensive. Good luck and happy computing!

I do have ADSL service from one company and phone service from another (that actually owns the line) It's even possible to have ADSL from one company and phone from the other with none of them actually owning the phone line.
That depends on law- in my country it's possible anyways.

In Canada, you can have one company for phone and a different company for DSL. There are many companies, at least here, that offer only DSL services.

here in the USA you can very easily have your phone service and dsl providers from different carriers. You would usually get a nice discount for keeping them the same though.

Yes, it's possible. You can have a fixed line carrier like ATT and DSL provided by Earthlink for example.
