Is upgrading the wireless card in the sager np9150 from the stock one to the intel Ultimate-N 6300 worth it. What exactly will an upgraded card do for me.

I moved this to the wireless forum. What is the stock card on the NP9150?

oh sorry didn't see that there was a networking and wireless subforum my bad. All it says on Xotic's site is Sager - Built-in 802.11 Wireless B/G/N - Stock Wireless Card + Bluetooth.

Knowing what chipset the stock wifi card uses would help if you want to know what an upgrade would do. If it's a wifi + bluetooth combo card you will lose bluetooth if you get a 6300. The 6300 will have the possibility of using 3 antennas which will give you a bit more stable wireless versus 2 antennas.

There are bluetooth combo cards made by intel like the 6230, 6235, 6250.

For Intel's, look for any xx3x if you want the bluetooth combo.

The 6250 doesn't have bluetooth but has support for Wimax/4g

Oh, sorry, not the 6250. I am having a hard time finding out what the stock card in the np9150 is for sure, it may be the 6230. In that case, the upgrade may not be worth it unless you are not going to need bluetooth and use wireless networks that have low signal/long range.
