I don't know why laptop manufacturers are abandoning Realtek and the like for these abominations, but I've already had to return two laptops and am having problems with a third. And all of these are otherwise good laptops for a good price.

This laptop is a Lenovo ideapad S510p touch With windows 8.0.

Anyways, the problem these Wifi adapters seem to have is that the connection keeps dropping to limited every few hours or so and I need to disconnect and connect again or just switch to airplane mode and back to bring back the internet. Switching off any power management on the adapter didn't solve the problem and neither did restarting my router and modem. All other devices - Toshiba laptop with Win8, Acer Netbook with Linux, Another Acer Netbook with Win7, 2 Android phones, a 10+ year old Acer desktop with XP (thru Ethernet) and one iPhone and 2 WD TV live boxes - have perfect internet.

I think that getting an updated driver for the card would fix the problem, but I can't for the life of me find it anywhere on the internet... Hell, I can't even find the driver version I have (2012-12-16). I've looked through Google, Lenovo and Atheros' websites. From Google, the best thing I found was this, but I don't know how trustworthy they are. Lenovo only displayed some Intel and Cybertan drivers for my model and Atheros didn't display drivers for anything greater than ar8* series. I have also tried Windows update, and it said I already had the latest driver, but it has said that for the video card of every machine I've had when there were, in fact newer versions, so I never really trust it.

If anyone knows of a safe and trustworthy place from which I can download a driver update, or can provide a convincing argument for DriverScape's trustworthiness, your help will be greatly appreciated!

Go with this one v 10.0.0.288 (you need to click on "Télécharger" to start the download).

I've been using Station Drivers for w while and it's a reliable website.

EDIT: AR9485 is crap. I'm not sure a driver update will fix that.

:D I check Station Drivers daily now. Great for when laptop manufacturer doesn't keep updating drivers through their own site...
