    Hi folks,

I have just bought the D-Link DIR-855 wireless router, problem is that my Q35 will not connect to it, it says i need to change some settings on the router so it can work with the wireless card in my computer??

Has it got anything to do with the fact that the router is a N class of wireless router that it wont work with my older laptop wireless card?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Peace

    S

The wireless card in your Q35 should be abg (probably Intel 3945) and I would expect the router to be backwards compatible.

If it is Intel then I recommend you install the most recent wireless driver from the Intel website.

Then, can you clarify what message you are getting? Also which operating system are you running? If the computer can see the router then your connection problem may be to do with security settings.

Since, I think, this is more to do with the settings than the computer, I am moving this to the wireless forum.

I suspect you'll have to log into the Router and change the Wireless Mode that the Router is Broadcasting on to either G or Mixed mode.

Read the Routers' manual for instructions on logging into its configuration settings. You'll need to enter its IP Address in your web browser to log in to it; most likely it would be 192.168.0.1
