My 82 year old mother's router went out yesterday so since we live in a small town and limited to where we can buy we went to her telephone provider's store which carries Linksys routers. I didn't do any research before buying and ended up with a Linksys E2500 but didn't know that much about until I read up on it when I got home. Don't remember the other models they carried but they had a $50, $80 (E2500), and $110.

Anyway while the E2500 works fine inside the house with her iPad & iPhone connected it doesn't have the range I was hoping for. She lives on a farm and when she, my brother and nephews are doing something outside the signal pretty much stops once they are barely away from the house. Just comparing it to her old D-Link router they had a signal away's from the house some and that router was nothing special.

So after reading up on the E2500 I see that it has a poor signal range and I'm wondering if I should take it back and order something online I think my mother would spend up to $120 or more to get something better. She normally has her iPad & iPhone connected at all times but my brother and nephews are in and out of the house frequently so that is 3 more iPhones connected.

Could you recommend something better? What are your opinions on the E2500 it does get good user reviews?
