A few of us on the forums have wondered what others are using for secure access on public wi-fi networks. I've noticed a couple of things myself in my research, finding such things as JiWire and other numerous things on Cnet/Download.com. JiWire seems to be the best, but it's a monthly fee. I've seen folks use VPN's, how many use those?

I had a buddy tell me he makes sure he doesn't use credit cards on the net in public spots or send e-mail, but geez...it'd sure be nice to do that if I had to, ya know?

    Anyways, what is everyone's thoughts?

VPN is probably one of the most secure methods to connect to a network over a public WiFi network. It is a direct connection between 2 points will full encryption and authentication. It's only limitation is that it must be directly connected to the other point (must accept VPN connection). It's not like surfing the web and you can goto any site at any time.
