OK, less than two weeks ago I bought a Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO router (product number: F5D9230-4) from Wal-Mart (I think this was my first mistake :( ). After setting it up, I was having problems playing Xbox LIVE; I was getting 'Connection Interrupted' in CoD4 games but since everyone was having problems with LIVE at that point I ignored it.

Then, nearly a week after I got the router I noticed my laptop would drop it's connection every few minutes. Though I don't have to actually do anything when this happens except wait about a minute and hit refresh, it's a real pain in my ass. This is when I realized that these problems were connected (no pun intended lol).

My Xbox 360 is connected through a LAN cable connected to the back of the router and my laptop is using the wireless but they both keep dropping their connections every few minutes. This causes Xbox LIVE to be basically unplayable because I get kicked out of the games with this happens. If I'm downloading something on my laptop it will stop the download and I'll have to start all over again, hoping it will finish.

Needless to say, I'm quite frustrated with this problem. I've tried calling my ISP, Belkin's support, asking in another forum, looking up answers to this problem, etc. but nothing seems to work. If I hadn't thrown away the Wal-Mart receipt (which is ridiculous because I never do this; I still have receipts from grocery shopping months ago) I would just get my money back and go get a better router but as of now my only option is to exchange the router through Belkin, something which would take time and I refuse to do unless as a last resort because I know it will take some time.

Sorry for the long post but I REALLY would appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this problem and I wanted to give a proper background on the problem. The problem isn't as simple as reseting my router because trust me, I've tried that. Please help!

Make sure you have the latest firmware in the router may help. But I have never had any luck with Belkin. Everyone I have worked on did the same thing yours is but would lockup to the point you had to do a reset to factory. And one would not even do that. I would return it for something else. If Walmart has the Linksys WRT54GL get it. Stay away from the other models, wrt54g & GS.

OK, thanks. The router came with the latest firmware. I already tried resetting it to factory at one point. I was able to reset but it didn't help.

I'm going to see if Wal-Mart will let me exchange the router without a receipt.
