Hey guys. Before going on vacation everything was working fine. My Wireless was working fine etc. I went on vacation to the Midwest (states) and I had problems with my internet.

    1. I connected to a CableOne modem through the ethernet port. I showed as connected but I couldn't access the internet.

    2. On the way home, we stopped at a rest area that had wireless internet. I decided to perhaps check some MLB scores. I connected through WiFi and I still could not access the internet! I showed as connected....

    3. I'm back home now, and the wireless still doesn't function properly. When I connect to my Bell Wireless modem, I still cant access the internet. I can now plug into my modem using ethernet, but wireless doesnt work

    --

So, is there something blocking the internet? I don't get what the problem is... I can access this computer's files on other network computers. It seems it cannot recieve connections? :(

Any help is well appreciated. Thanks

Might be a firewall problem, but I would first start out with the hardware. Make sure that your drivers are updated and you have your wifi radio on (FN+F2). If all of that checks out, then change your router so that it is not secured (no SSID/password) and see if you can connect to it as a free network.

Reason I suggest to start out with hardware is because if you are connected right now via ethernet, then chances are it isn't software. If it was software, you most likely wouldn't be able to connect via ethernet either.

As far as software, what kind of firewall protection and antivirus do you have?

THanks for the reply. Right now, I dont have any protection. You see, I am able to connect to the router. I am able to connect t any wireless conneciton. I just can't seem to use the internet.

When I double-click the connection to see the stats, I am barely recieving any packets.

    Any more ideas?

My roomate had a similar issue with his toshiba laptop when he was in Chicago. He was able to connect to wifi hot spots, but couldn't open any wep page. After troubleshooting on the phone for an hour I asked him to check the the two cables that connects the wireless card, one of them was lose. So, give that a try.

Thanks for the reply. Where do I find this on the Dell Inspiron 6400/e1505?
